چکیده
To quantify clinical and operative factors influencing comeal graft outcome. MeVlods Multifactorial analysis of 2242 grafts registered by United Kingdom Transplant Service from July 1987 to June 1990. Results Increased risk of graft failure with: pm operative stmmal oedema; small trechine size: difference in donor and recioient sizes areater than 0.25 mm: and mixed ccntinuous and interrupted sutures. Poorer 3month visuai acuity with: glaucoma and low visual acuity preoperatively; small trephine size; and combined vitreous surgery. Higher 5 month astigmatism with: interupted sutures. Conclusions Effects of factors were generally in the same direction for each outcome measure. Only large scale, randomised. controlled trials will provide definitive answers to preferred operative techniques.

Combined HLA matched limbal stem cells allograft with amniotic membrane transplantation as a prophylactic surgical procedure to prevent corneal graft rejection after penetrating keratoplasty: case report.
PURPOSE To determine if the use of combined HLA matched limbal stem cells allograft with amniotic membrane transplantation (AMT) is a safe and effective prophylactic surgical procedure to prevent corneal graft after penetrating keratoplasty (PK). METHODS We report the case of a 17 years old patient with a history of congenital glaucoma, trabeculectomy and multiple corneal graft rejections, pr...
متن کاملInfluence of HLA-A, HLA-B, and HLA-DR matching on rejection of random corneal grafts using corneal tissue for retrospective DNA HLA typing.
AIM To establish if coincidental HLA-A, HLA-B, and HLA-DR tissue matching is associated with a reduced likelihood of corneal graft rejection. METHODS Organ culture preserved random donor corneas were used for penetrating keratoplasty (PKP). Corneal tissue from all graft recipients and donors or blood samples from recipients after repeated transplantation were obtained in order to perform retr...
متن کاملFunctional antigen matching in corneal transplantation: matching for the HLA-A, -B and -DRB1 antigens (FANCY) – study protocol
BACKGROUND Penetrating keratoplasty can commonly restore vision in corneal blindness. However, immunological graft reactions may induce irreversible graft failure in a substantial percentage. Repeat keratoplasties in turn are associated with increased risk of graft failure and possibly irreversible blindness. Topical as well as systemic immunosuppressants are administered for prophylaxis. Howev...
متن کاملHistocompatibility testing for keratoplasty in high-risk patients.
Forty-eight consecutive patients at high risk for corneal graft rejection were transplanted with corneas from donors selected on the basis of a negative lymphocyte crossmatch, ABO blood group compatibility, and maximized HLA-A, -B matching. Graft survival in this study group was compared to a retrospective control group of 72 consecutive high-risk transplants performed in patients receiving ran...
متن کاملEndothelial cell counts after Descemet’s stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty versus penetrating keratoplasty in Asian eyes
BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to compare endothelial cell counts after Descemet's stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) and penetrating keratoplasty in Asian eyes. METHODS This was a retrospective study of patients from our prospective Singapore Corneal Transplant Study cohort who received corneal transplantation in 2006-2008. We compared eyes that underwent DSAEK or...
